Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure
Paper On How The Rule Affects Agriculture
Following the December 12, 2005, presentation by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), “Proposed Amendments to the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Rule and SPCC Guidance Document Overview,” two things were evident: (1) the SPCC Rules apply to farms and (2) very few farmers are aware of the requirements. In this paper, we will briefly discuss spill plans, and how the 2005 proposed amendments to the SPCC Rules may affect farms. This paper was prepared by The Dragun Corporation.
Joint Letter to EPA On Proposed Rule Change
NMPF joined 140 local and national organizations in urging EPA to look further at the proposed rule change. The letter requests that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issue a formal statement suspending compliance with the SPCC rule given the uncertainty that surrounds the applicability of the 1973 rule.
