The following statement was issued by Jerry Kozak, President and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, regarding completion of the Farm Bill conference agreement:

For nearly two years, NMPF’s membership has been working with Congress and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop a new Farm Bill that improves dairy policy and moves our industry forward.

While details of the Farm Bill conference report have yet to be released, we are heartened by the announcement today that House and Senate leaders have reached agreement on all of the elements that had been under consideration during months of complex negotiations between the two chambers. NMPF has always viewed the Farm Bill as a package of items that will benefit America’s dairy farmers, and we are confident that the resulting bill represents the best possible outcome for our members. We applaud the bipartisan work that has gone into this conference.

We now encourage the entire House and Senate, and the White House, to consider this legislation next week, and pass it into law. It’s time to bring this lengthy process to closure.

The National Milk Producers Federation, based in Arlington, VA, develops and carries out policies that advance the well being of dairy producers and the cooperatives they own. The members of NMPF’s 31 cooperatives produce the majority of the U.S. milk supply, making NMPF the voice of more than 40,000 dairy producers on Capitol Hill and with government agencies.
